Just got back. It was great. I might have to not go to OBX next year so that I can go on another cruise. It was that great. Perfect weather. Great service. Good food. I am hooked.

nothing says you can't go to OBX one week and then go on a cruise another week during the year! LOL!.. that's what we do! (so we get best of both worlds!! ) ;)
which cruise line? we go on Royal Caribbean and really like it.

we went royal caribbean from baltimore md. It was the best. drove to baltimore and got right on the ship. NO flight delays not airport issues. We will be in the OBX in 52 days, so this year we are doing both. I guess I just need to save up to do both every year.

nice pic!... go to this website-cruise and vacation desk- we get the BEST deals on Royal Caribbean!.. (lots of rebates too) so it's lots more affordable!
we got portside balcony suites for the same price as the interior suites!!! (if you charge it on a Discover card, you get an even better deal!)

We do the same thing. Cruise one week of the year and then OBX another week. Cruises are awesome!

Been thinking about cruises and we heard Royal Caribbean was the best cruise line. Anyway, what is the average cost that you have spent on the cruise, per person price plus extras on the ship you know? If you don't mind sharing this information it would be extremely helpful for us making a decision. Will take any recommendations you have.

I'd say we paid about $550.00 per person (for balcony portside suite).. through that Cruise Vacation Desk website.. the girl we dealt with was GREAT and kept calling us with more rebates, etc.... of course if you do a lot of shopping, etc (we don't except for some bargaining with some of the natives at the places we visit) you'll pay a little more! ;)..
One thing we also did to save $$ (since drinks are not included--but all food is) was to buy liquor at the liquor store on the ship (CHEAP!) and you pay like $20 to keep it in your room.. we bought a couple big Royal Caribbean souvenir cups with straws and got some diet co*ke and made our own rum drinks to take around the ship with us!.. but SOME times we did splurge and buy some "Coco Loco" drinks which are REALLY good (we made friends with one of the bartenders and he was giving us free drinks towards the end of the trip! heehee! and strong one's! ;)
we also went later in the year (Nov/Dec) and I think it's cheaper then also..
we went to western Caribbean---two years in a row (both different cruises--first on Voyager of the Seas, second on Radiance of the Seas: to Key West, Cozumel, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Roatan, Labadee---GREAT trip..good snorkeling!

Thanks for the info. That's pretty cheap per person in comparison to what I had been looking at. Where did you sail out of and also, how long was your cruise? Like you, we really wouldn't do much shopping. Unlike a lot of girls, I really don't care for the whole shopping thing, lol. We may have to try and do something like a cruise within the next year or 2. I will keep your tips in a folder and definitely bookmark that website. Thanks again!

this is the 2nd one (though when we went it was 7 nights)..
on the Radiance of the Seas we sailed out of Fort Lauderdale.. also a great cruise... they changed the itinerary last minute and, instead of Costa Maya, we went to Roatan (Honduras)...interesting trip!
our favorite place on both ships were the solarium spas.. spent lots of time in the hot tubs and pool.. VERY nice!.. have no complaints, everything was great! (and the more you go with RC the more perks you get!)
even if you've never gone snorkeling (I didn't and I LOVE it now) I recommend going on the Stingray City Snorkeling excursion in Grand Cayman... Snorkeling in Cozumel, Mexico was also great (do the short one and you have lots of time to explore rest of the day).. and the Dunn River Falls Catamaran in Ocho Rios----GOTTA go to Margaritaville in Ocho Rios Jamaica--sooo much fun!... if you post your email in my profile I can send you LOTS more info!
